I'm back amongst the living!

Well, this has been quite the experience for me. I've been really ill this past 10 days or so. It all started with a runny nose the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Then by Thursday and Friday I thought for sure I had the H1N1 flu! I ached everywhere, I couldn't move, I couldn't breathe, and generally just wanted to die. Well, by Saturday night it was really bad so my wonderful mom rushed me to the instacare in Ogden where I was checked and rechecked by a very puzzled doctor. Their CBC machine (blood machine) wasn't working so he couldn't check any of that stuff. So he told me I might have H1N1 and if I wasn't better by Monday to go to McKay Dee and have bloodwork done. Well, as the weekend wore on, I became Jaundice (yellow) in my skin and eyes and I still felt terrible! My Mom thought it was my gallbladder and called one of the dr's she works for and he said to get me in for an ultrasound ASAP (after the dreaded bloodwork. Meanwhile Justin's work schedule changed from 2-10pm to 5am-2pm. Good change!!! So Monday morning I drove myself to the hospital and plopped in a wheelchair and my mom took me to my appointments. I was really weak and sick and couldn't walk. First was 4 vials of blood and then to the ultrasound. The results of the ultrasound showed that my liver wasn't functioning but my gallbladder was fine (no gallbladder surgery!!) So from there I was referred to a GI doctor to figure out what the heck was wrong with my liver! Wednesday I met with him and he ordered more bloodwork (the works!) So I got 9 more vials taken. Have I ever mentioned that I HATE giving blood and usually faint? UG! I managed to stay in the chair, but it sure didn't feel very good. By Thursday, I could breathe normally but still felt sick and all around just yucky! I called the GI Dr. for the results of my blood tests and he told me I have CytoMegalo Virus (CMV). He explained that it's a virus that is in everyone's body and most adults get it once in thier life, but it has flu-like symptoms so usually it goes un-diagnosed and just goes away. He told me that I have the rare kind that has liver involvement. LUCKY ME!!! He said that I seemed to be getting better so he was happy about that, but my liver is still being affected which means (you guessed it) MORE BLOOD TESTS!!! I also had been getting lots of mucous in my eyes (they were kinda bugary-gross, I know!). Well, each day they just got worse and worse and I was in constant pain if they were open or closed. They mucous was blurring my vision so I couldn't drive or watch TV or do ANYTHING! I wanted to take my eyes out! So Thursday brought a new doctor into the picture- an eye dr. Well, he told me I have pretty bad conjunctivitis and needed some prescription eye drops and then to come back in a week to make sure the there was no damage to my eyes. (CMV can sometimes cause retinal damage). Well, Friday was more blood work to check my liver (no good results yet) and more Monday. I don't have the results of today's tests yet, we'll hope for the best. I'm feeling much better and can almost see again! Everything is just blurred, but my eyes don't hurt. Another side effect is that because my bilirubin (spelling?) levels are high, I itch constantly! I've almost scratched the skin off my legs, arms, head, and well, everywhere. But I am SO blessed to have a wonderful hubby that has taken AMAZING care of me this past week, to have a mom that has done everything but got to the moon for me, and a family that has pitched in and driven me to my many appts. I am blessed! I feel alive! This is almost over!

Thanksgiving & Black Friday

This was a busy week! I have been working on the cookbook for the Dental Hygiene girls all this week. I've been at the computer lab everyday for the last several weeks to get it done (I don't have a computer or the internet at home). Well, of Friday I turned it over to FedEx to print!!! HOORAY! This has taken lots of time and effort and I'm nearly done! YAY! They are WONDERFUL with the BEST recipes in them for only $8.00! Let me know if you'd like a copy...I have lots of extras...
Thanksgiving was wonderful! We all pitched in and created a wonderful Thanksgiving feast! I made a lemon fruit salad (my hubby's request) and 2 pumpkin pies (my first time!). We had a family join us this year. They are from Jenny's ward in North Carolina and just moved here. It is a hubby, wife, and 3 DARLING little angel girls. I am SO happy that they joined us, it was a wonderful day of eating, playing, eating, talking, eating, watching TV, and eating. I am so thankful for my family! I LOVE spending time with them!
Justin has been wanting a new TV for Christmas. We looked over the black Friday adds and decided that the prices were good enough for us to buy one Friday morning. So after choosing a few places (like Best Buy and Target) and then deciding that we weren't that brave we decided on Shopko. So at 4:30 am we stood in line and were let in at 5. We darted all around the store. There were lots of people, but none of them seems to want what we were there for! YAY! We got the slip to pay for our TV and got our first Christmas Tree for $20! It was a good day. So we got home by 5:30 with our treasures and had our new TV set up by 6am! I am glad we went to Shopko because it wasn't nearly as bad as I've been in before. Justin however truly doesn't understand the madness and chaos that Black Friday usually involves. He still thinks taht we could have shown up to any store at 10 am and they would have had what we wanted...WRONG-O! Maybe I'll take him to Walmart on another Black Friday to really show him what it is like. Oh well, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO US!

New Job

WOW! Time has gone by so fast! Only 3 more weeks of school this semester!!! YAHOO!!!
Char has gotten a new job for the holiday season! I am now working at Bath and Body Works in the Newgate Mall. We needed a little extra cash and they were hiring and willing to work with my crazy school schedule! So I had orientation last night and will be starting in the next few weeks. Come on in and see me!!!
Justin has been told by 3 different departments that they want to hire him, but the company isn't hiring yet. They said they will be soon....but until then we just have to wait. He is getting sick of being a temp-and he now has 3 temps under him that he manages.
Life is going well otherwise. We are excited for the holidays to come. Justin's mom, sister and step-dad will be here this weekend. Heather (sister) got her her mission 3 weeks ago and is touring Arizona with her parents. They will stop here for a few days to play with us. I'm super excited to see them!!!

Weekend Getaway!

We went to Wyoming a few weekends ago with Mom, Dad, Ty and Dawn (Cami & Lloyd were in Cali). We went to Yellowstone-it was a blast! We got to the park and we saw a Buffalo and got SO excited!! As we drove farther into the park we saw more and more and then there were heards crossing the road right in front of our car! It was crazy cool! One of the times they were coming right at us and Ty was really kinda freaking out and wasn't sure what to do so he slowly reached over to roll up his window and sped off. The Bison was about 1 foot away from our car!!! It was sweet! We also saw a few bald eagles, Elk, Deer and lots of trees. It was a wonderful vacation. Justin LOVED it all-it was his first trip there. We took some hikes to see the hot pots. What an awesome getaway!

ONE MONTH!!

Ok, so it's not a huge deal, but to me it is! Yesterday was our one month anniversary! WE MADE IT A MONTH! Not that I suspected that we wouldn't, but it is still a landmark occasion!! We are all setteled into our little apartment and there are decoration on the wall and everything! It actually looks like a nice place to live!! Justin is working at the flour mill in Ogden and he works from 2pm to 10:30 pm or 12:30 am if he gets to work overtime. So, needless to say, we don't get to see eachother very much during the week-that sucks! But I am so grateful that he has a job and is a hard worker! I am back in full swing at school-if you need a cleaining.....you know who to call! I need your mouth!! I am at school from usually 8-5 everyday-some days longer some shorter. I don't have as much class time this year, but lots more clinic time-practice, practice, practice!
For our 1 year anniversary we went to Texas Roadhouse-which was amazing! Justin had never been there and I don't think he understood just how good it was when I told him before. He was floored. Then we went to the dollar theater to see UP. It was a DARLING movie! Loved it. Then it was off to bed to start another work week. Life is SO sweet! I LOVE MY LIFE! I have the best hubby ever. He is so good to me and so sweet!! YAY for marriage!

I'm MARRIED!!

My wedding day the THE MOST PERFECT day EVER!!! Everything was perfect! If you werne't able to come enjoy the day with us, YOU TOTALLY MISSED OUT!!! I had a nice relaxing morning getting ready, then got to the temple. We had a wonderful sealing-our sealer was HILARIOUS and just the cutest ever!! We went out and greeted our family/friends and took millions of pics (they are amazing!!) Then we got to our luncheon which was most delicious-it was an italian stir fry. You choose the toppings you want and they saute it and add it to pasta and sauce. It was so yummy!!! Then we hurried and got changed back into wedding attire and took more pics and then it was time for my MOST BEAUTIFUL reception! It just SCREAMED Charlotte! It was even more beautiful than I imagined possible! Breath-taking! Then we headed up to the Providence Inn (in Logan, UT) and stayed 2 nights. On Saturday we did a session in the Logan temple and went to dinner. Sunday we started our 22 hour drive to the surprise location. HE TOOK ME TO NAUVOO!!! I was SO excited! We toured everything, took carriage rides, watched the shows, and did a session in the temple with one of me recent converts from Justin's ward that was being endowed that day! It was perfect. We went to Carthage Jail on Wednesday and then headed up to WI to get ready for our other reception. Thursday we sat around and were lazy all day but Friday we went to the Dells and played. Saturday was our reception there which was wonderful! His mom and the whole ward worked so hard to get all the yummy food done. Most of his family was there-it was a blast to meet them all! I am SUPER excited to be a part of the Chaffee family! I have 2 wonderful families-could I be more lucky?! We left Saturday afternoon and got home Sunday afternoon. It was a wonderful honeymoon! I LOVE being married!

This week we are just trying to put our apartment together and hang stuff and buy little extra's that we needed (like a can opener...very important!!) MY LIFE IS PERFECT!!!
Sorry there are no pictures....there has been no time.....

Just checking in....

Hi all!
I am just checkin in to let you know that I am still alive and only 3 days from my WEDDING!!! It is still very unreal...I feel like I am planning and planning and this day is so far away still...but 3 days is just little!!! HOLY CRAP! I know that I haven't been up on my blogging but time just slips away! Justin is now living in our apartment-and I am missing him very badly! It is his first night there (hence the time to blog instead of snuggle-which, lets face it, I'd rather be snuggling than blogging). We are all set and our family is slowly trickeling in day by day. What a happy time! Thanks for all the concern! See you soon!
**Please please please if I didn't manage to get you an invitation you are so welcome to come to our reception and be with us. It will be at 3649 W 4800 S in Roy from 6:30 to 8:30. It is very hard to make sure that everyone got one and we are still getting returned mail from ones we sent a few weeks ago. Thanks!

Wedding update

Thanks to all of you who have helped me so much! I have pretty much everything underway, on my appointment list, or have left messages. It never ceases to amaze me how much the Lord helps a righteous cause! The only battle left is scheduling bridals and engagements with the photographer (MJ Morgan) and ordering wedding announcements!!!
Oh, and I need your addresses!!! If you haven't already added your address to my database could you please click on the link (to the right underneath our wedding countdown) and enter the info. If you have emailed me that the link didn't work and gave me your addy-I added it. THANKS!!! Time is ticking and I can't wait!!!

Family Camp-out

This weekend we went camping! It was so fun! We went to the Willows in South Fork Canyon. We went with Cami, Lloyd & Max (doggie), Ty & Dawn, and Me, Mom & Dad. I was secretly (or not so secretly) wishing that Justin was going to show up at our campsite-or at least be home when we got home...but alas...he is still in Wisconsin...boo) We played games, basked in the sunshine, hid from the rain, got dirty, & dipped our feet in the river. This was Max's FIRST camping trip!!! He eventually got to be pretty brave and played in the river. He was having so much fun! We really loved to have Max with us! He is such a good doggie-he doesn't bark-unlike all the other annoying dogs up there! It really was a wonderful get-away. It was FREEZING cold at night though...brrr! We have decided that we need to help Mom and Dad get a tent trailor-it's insane that they don't have one yet. They can't keep sleeping in an 8 man tent on the ground! NONSENSE! So if you know of anyone that is looking to sell or knows where we can get a good deal...pass the info along!

NEW WEDDING DATE!!!

AHHHHH!!!! I'm so excited I could just pee my pants, scream and shout and jump up and down!!! Justin and I have decided to move our wedding date from December 12 to AUGUST 7th!!!! AUGUST 7th!!! I just can't stand it! Justin will be moving out here shortly to look for work and I just knew that we SHOULD NOT wait until December. I want his sister Heather to be there (she'll be on her mission until October) but it is just better that we don't wait. YAY!!!
So, I have been SO busy busy busy getting all that I need to done in 7 weeks!!! My dress (in the right size) won't be here in time so I'll have to get the larger size and have it altered down (if anyone knows of anyone who does that I am searching desparately). I made phone calls for about 5 hours on Wednesday to find a decorator or reception hall and just wasn't satisfied. So I was going to meet with some decorators on Friday and if I didn't choose one of them I would reserve the Chantilly mansion in Layton. Well, tonight we met with our cake decorator (she did Cami's cake 3 yrs ago) and she got so excited about my cake and the ideas I had for my reception (and the fact that I had no decorator) and said that she and her daughter have been wanting to do some reception decorating and want to do MINE!!! AHHHH!!!!! I just feel SO blessed! This is all coming together perfectly!! YAY!!!! Now I have to decide on a photographer, invitations, florist, and other little things. I hope EVERYONE can come to my reception because it will be the event of the YEAR! It is going to be SO cute! We designed my cake tonight I and I just can't wait! I'm just so happy! I think about the fact that i get to be Justin's wife in a short 7 weeks and I jsut can't even stand it! I LOVE MY LIFE!!!
Oh, and by the way, my trip to WI with mom and Jenny Gill was wonderful! I LOVE all the members there so much! We had a blast!!!

This week has been a doosy!

WOW! We have had some serious partying going on! May 25 was Dad's birthday-the big SIX-OH! That's right! 60!!!! We had a wonderful meal (bratwurst, etc.) and party for dad!

On May 27th was CAMI's 22nd birthday!! Yet another PARTY with more wonderful food!

May 28th Jenny and Jesse flew in from North Carolina!!!! It was WONDERFUL to have them here and to be with them!!! Of course we all went down to the spaghetti factory and stuffed our faces until we could no longer breathe!!! It was WONDERFUL!!

On May 30 all the girls (me, cami, jen, mom) went WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING!!!! That's right....I said WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING!!! EEKS!!! I really feel like I'm getting married now! So we tried them on (well, I did) and tried and tried....it was so fun-but very tiring. Well, after going back to a certain dress several times, we finally decided to go with that one and BOUGHT IT!!!! WAHOO!!! It is a new style they'd only had for a week and I was the first one that had even tried it on. The ladies were just raving (I know they always do, but esp about that one!-I felt pretty special). Oh MAN wedding dress shopping is SO fun! I know that all of you now want me to post a picture of it-but I WILL NOT! It will spoil the surprise. You'll just have to come to my reception to see how breath-taking it is! he he he......
My grams and gramps from Cali arrived late Saturday night to join the party. All we were missing now was Justin...darn him for living so far away! We played and partied and ate and played and partied and ate until we could no longer stand it. It was a wonderful week! They all left early this morning-we were sad to see them go.

But in less than a week mom and I depart for WISCONSIN!!! I get to see all of the wonderful Wisconsin people I love so much and JUSTIN!!! YAY!!!
Oh, and I started work this week for Dr. Ward's office....wait...maybe that was last week. Either way...I'm a working girl for the summer....I'll get to have a paycheck! WAHOO!!!

A hiking we will go....

Yesterday I went with the YSA's in our stake to hike up waterfall canyon. It was BRUTAL! Ok, so it really wasn't all that bad, but it was pretty intense...lots of rocks, more rocks and then there were some rocky parts. I stayed with Karla Krause most of the time and after a little detour along the shoreline trail (we went the wrong way....) we made our way back to the path and eventually to the top. It was beautiful and SO worth all that work! The waterfall was AMAZING! See for yourself. Bro. Joe Krause (www.krausephotos.com) took these pics for us:

Of course the way down was wonderful! And I got a phonecall from my love on the last 15 minutes of the way down....what could have been better? (I guess having him in person would have been....) It was a fun hike and I'll for sure go again! I never remember how hard hikes are once I'm done and to the bottom-but they are always worth it. Go hiking and enjoy life!

I'm back....

So my week with Justin has come to an end. Boo.....
We had a wonderful week! Justin had to work everyday, but I kept myself busy with the missionaries, other members, reading and sleeping. It always feels so good to be with the members of the AF ward! On Friday we went down to the YSA Milwaukee conference (a 2-day event) with Joey and had a blast! He drove us in his fancy new car and did a great job (Justin LOVES to give driving lessons....Joey was very patient and did great!) Saturday night we decided to go to a hibachi (spelling?) grill with Dave and Jess (brother and sister-in-law). None of them had ever been before and it was quite an experience (an expensive one!) We had fun! Sunday was perfect (I LOVE church in the AF ward!) We went to a firside that evening in Wausau with Joey. Monday was preparation day with the missionaries! We played Kickball, volleyball, games, and went up the steps (aka the mound) for FHE where the Elders from Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids gave a fun lesson.

On Tuesday I went with the missionaries to District meeting and lunch. That was so fun to be back in the missionary world! Wednesday was YM/YW at the church-yet another opportuinity to spend with the AF ward. Justin was asked to help a ward member move some furniture so we went over. They live about 1 mile off the road and have a huge beautiful home! I told Justin that if he would build me a house like that we could live in the country like he wants to--a good compromise I thought. I really think I will like living in the country....
Thursday was SUPER exciting because lots of Justin's family came over to meet me. Robert and Amber Chaffee (and kids) drove down from Medford, WI (an almost 3 hr drive!) just to meet me! We had a blast all day!! Thursday was supposed to be my last day, but I talked to Amy and asked if we could stay a little longer...so we decided to start our drive home saturday instead....the surprises just keep coming! Friday was a good day-I spend the whole day with Justin's mom. We made LOTS of frienship bread, weeded, and chatted. It was wonderful. Then Justin and I spend the evening together reading and just enjoying each others company. Saturday morning at 8ish Amy came to pick me up and we stared our 22 hour drive home. We got lost only 1 time and ran into a HUGE snow storm in Wyoming around 12:30-1:30 am. It was a pretty good drive and we got home at around 6 am.
This is our mileage on the trip....how often does this happen (and we see it?)

All-in-all it was a wonderful week with my love! The most fun part was surprising him and hearing him over and over whisper in my ear: "Thank you so much for surprising me....I'm so glad you came!"

I just love my life!!!!

I LOVE surprises!

Yesterday i got on a plane and flew to Wisconsin to surprise my fiance with a visit! It was SO much fun! I spent the day with Amy Mann and around 7 pm we got to his home. I had Amy call his mom to ask if she could drop something by for church on Sunday. Barb (Justin's mom) said that they were going camping this weekend and wouldn't be in church, but she was welcome to drop off what she needed. When we got there the whole family (Justin, mom and John) were outside trying to get the tent trailer hooked up to a vehichle. I got out of the car and made a shh.... gesture to John as he saw me. Then I snuck around the car and did the same for his mom (who did a double take when she saw me! he he) and she gave me a HUGE hug-I love that woman! Then I stood by the end of the car and said "what are you doing?" to Justin and he looked up and in great shock said "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!" He he he! Needless to say I was a BIG surprise! YAY! So after he doddled around a bit (he wasn't even sure what to do!) I asked him if he was planning on giving me a hug.....so he did. I LOVE MY LIFE! Now I get to spend a week or so with him and all of the people I love so much here in AF Wisconsin!

Black Tuesday

We all knew this was coming.....no not the financial crisis--the heart-break crisis. Justin left for home today (for who knows how long....) When he got here Jan 24 I knew that our time was limited, but today it ended. I'm blue. I hate saying goodbye. I am hoping that I'll be able to go out there for some time in the summer, but that might be the only time we get to see eachother until he moves here for our wedding. BAH!

We did have a great time while was here and a few things have changed (for the better)! We are engaged and have a date set-December 12th, 2009! Below is a picture of my ring (It's being sized as we speak and I should have it back by Thursday!) He did a great job! He chose it all by himself. What a good boy.
Well, I have to go shed a few more tears. Thanks to ya'all for the lovin! I love ya!

WE'RE ENGAGED!!!!

Hello to all you fine people! This weekend was our fun spring break trip to St. George, Las Vegas and California!!! We had a BLAST! We spent the afternoon and evening in St. George with my parents and then went to the St. George temple. The next day we drove to Las Vegas and did a session in that temple too. Then we met up with my grandparents from Cali and walked the strip of Vegas. Justin really thought it was cool! The next day we went on to Cali and my parents drove back home. We had dinner at my Uncle Larry's home and then drove to Gram's house in Fontana (San Bernardino area).
The next day was Monday (Justin's birthday!!!) We had planned on going to the beach that day, but it was really crappy weather so we went to Victoria Gardens (an outdoor mall) and to a movie that day. We celebrated that evening with cake and some presents (I got him some shirts). The next day was our San Diego day. We wanted to go with grams and gramps but the main purpose was to got to the San Diego temple. So they came with us and waited around while we did a session. We got to be the witness couple in the session (that was really neat!). The Celestial room of the San Diego temple has an atrium in it and so we went there to see how pretty it was. It was magnificent! I highly recommend visiting that temple!!!! It's my fav! While we were standing in the atrium Justin slipped a ring into my hand and asked me to marry him. SO CUTE! I of course said yes!!! It was PERFECT! Just how I wanted it to happen! He picked the ring out by himself and I LOVE IT!!!!!
The next day we went to the Redlands CA temple. It is very simialar to the St. Paul Minnesota temple. SO PRETTY!! We then drove back to my uncle's house because he was planning on taking us rock climbing. Man was that an experience. I forgot my camera, but the mental pictures are awesome! Justin took to it really well and scurried up the rock really fast. My uncle wanted to take him to a harder climb, but we just didn't have time. I got about 3/4 up the rock, but my arms weren't strong enough to do the last part (it was SUPER hard!) but I tried and get at least a B for effort! It was fun! Then we went to dinner with my uncle's family and my cousin took Justin snowboarding! He was pretty excited to go snowboarding in Cali. It was a blast! Then we started the 10 hour drive home the next day. It was really a BLAST!

busy busy busy!

Oh man have Justin and I been busy! We are trying to visit as many temples in this area as possible and it is hard! On Valenties day we went to the Mt. Timpanogas temple with some sista's from the mish, this last weekend we went to the Bountiful temple and drove up to the Idaho Falls and Rexburg temple with the folks and met up with Karen Dee! It's been a BLAST! Every Thursday night we go bowling at spare time for bowl your brains out night. We've had lots of my favorite people join us and it's been non-stop fun! Other than that we watch lots of movies and cuddle up in a blankie or play games! Justin is AMAZING and ruthless at hand and foot. It's been a blast to have him here and I just don't want to even think about that fact that he'll be leaving someday....so I won't! Love ya'all and hope all is well!
